People tell us they feel "off" even when labs from a few years ago looked fine, or that energy, sleep, mood, or libido have drifted without a clear reason. At Uplifting Medi Spa, we offer hormone replacement therapy in New Braunfels and Spring Branch. We decide fit with you in consult after we review symptoms, history, and current hormone levels.
This post is educational. Results vary. HRT is not right for everyone. A consult and lab work are required before treatment.
What is hormone replacement therapy here?
Hormone replacement therapy means restoring selected hormone levels when your body is no longer making enough of what you need to feel well. At Uplifting we use the format that fits you best after consult and labs. That can mean pellets, creams, troches, or injectables. We do not lock every patient into one delivery method.
When pellets are the right fit, we use a Farmakeio pellet option. Small pellets go under the skin and release hormone steadily over months, so you are not taking a daily pill for that dose. Creams, troches, and injectables follow different schedules. We walk through tradeoffs in consult.
Any of these can support plans for women and for men. The exact hormones, dose, format, and schedule come from your labs and goals, not from a one-size kit. We talk through estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone options when they are clinically appropriate. We do not start HRT without screening.
What happens during an HRT visit?
Consultation and labs
The first visit is a conversation. We ask about energy, sleep, mood, cycle or menopause history, sexual health, medications, and what you want to change. Then we order hormone labs so we are not guessing. If another medical issue looks more likely, we say so and point you toward the right next step.
Your plan
Once results are in, we build a plan that matches your levels and your goals. That may include pellets, a cream, a troche, an injectable, or another schedule that fits your life. Timing, follow-up, and what we will recheck later are part of the same conversation. Cost and financing get covered in plain language before you commit.
How you receive your hormones
If pellets are part of your plan, insertion is a short, in-office procedure. After cleaning and numbing a small area, usually the hip or upper buttock, we place the pellets under the skin through a tiny opening and close it with a small dressing. Most people are in and out the same day. Mild bruising or tenderness at the site is common for a few days.
Farmakeio's pellet formulation used in our clinic includes triamcinolone in the approach described on our treatment page, which is meant to lower scarring risk and help reduce pellet extrusion. We still review risks with you in consult.
If your plan uses a cream, troche, or injectable instead, we teach you how and when to use it, and what to watch for between visits.
Follow-up
Follow-up depends on the format. Pellets last a few months. Many women need replacement about every 3 to 5 months. Many men need it about every 4 to 6 months. Creams, troches, and injectables usually need more frequent check-ins on dose and how you feel. Your metabolism and response set the real timeline. We recheck how you feel and, when needed, labs, then adjust the next plan.
Who may be a good fit?
You may be a reasonable candidate to discuss HRT if you have symptoms that suggest hormone imbalance, are open to labs and follow-up, and want a medically guided plan rather than over-the-counter guesses.
We may recommend waiting, or another path, if your history raises safety questions, if labs do not support replacement, or if a different wellness plan fits better first. Our nurse practitioners and clinical team evaluate fit under Dr. Jennifer Upton's clinic approach. If HRT is not the right tool, or if a different format fits better than the first idea, we will say so.
What people often hope to improve
Clients commonly come in wanting steadier energy, more even mood, better sleep, stronger libido, clearer focus, or support for bone health over time. Some notice changes within a few weeks. Fuller benefit often takes a couple of months. We set expectations from your labs and symptoms, not from marketing claims.
FAQ
How soon will I feel different?
Many people notice early shifts in energy or mood within about 2 to 4 weeks. Fuller benefit often shows by about 2 to 3 months. Your timeline depends on your starting levels and plan.
What formats do you offer?
Pellets, creams, troches, and injectables. We pick what fits your labs, lifestyle, and goals after consult.
Do pellets hurt going in?
We numb the site first. Most clients feel pressure more than sharp pain. Mild bruising or swelling at the insertion site is common and usually settles in a few days.
How long do pellets last?
Often about 3 to 5 months for women and 4 to 6 months for men, then we plan the next insertion. We refine that with follow-up visits.
Is HRT safe for everyone?
No. Screening matters. We review medical history, labs, and contraindications before any treatment. Ask us about your specific situation in consult.
What does HRT cost, and does insurance cover it?
Cost depends on dose, format, and how often you need refills or reinsertion. We give a clear estimate in consult. Insurance coverage varies by plan. Many clients pay out of pocket. We can discuss financing options when that helps.
